LINDEN— Peter LeRoy 'Pete' Thompson was born in Red Bank, New Jersey, on March 7, 1934 to Joseph LeRoy ‘Roy’ Thompson and Cora Louise Poppinga. He died July 25, 2010 at Beacon Hospice-Margaret’s House in Longview, Texas.
Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta ‘Bobbi’ Thompson. Pete and Bobbi were married on April 7, 1962 at Tower Hill Presbyterian Church in Red Bank, NJ. He was civilian electricial engineer for the Army, a member of the Army National Guard serving as a Sgt. in the Red Bank, New Jersey 644th Tank Battalion and attended Linden United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Chuck Evans of Linden, and a son, Bill Thompson and Erika Lannon of Encinitas, California. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and step-father, Everett Carlile.
A memorial service will be held at Linden United Methodist Church on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Kevin Young officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home, Inc. in Linden.
