Born in: Atlanta, Texas
Resided in: Linden, Texas

Funeral services for Mr. Stephen “Steve” James Morse, 74, of Linden, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Linden Methodist Church, with Pastor Kara Mitchell officiating.  Burial will follow at Linden Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.  There will be a time of visitation with family and friends beginning one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.

Steve was born November 1, 1951, in Atlanta, Texas, to Samuel Joseph “Sonny” Morse and Tommie Sue Watson Morse. He passed away peacefully at his home in Linden on July 1, 2026.

Steve was a graduate of Linden-Kildare High School, Class of 1970, where he was involved in various activities and served as President of the FFA. He remained a true blue L-K supporter throughout his life and later served as Maintenance Director for Linden-Kildare until his retirement.

Steve was also a devoted, lifelong member of Linden Methodist Church, where he faithfully served as Treasurer of the Men’s Bible Class for more than 35 years. His commitment to his church and community was evident in all he did. Over the years, he served on the Rodeo Association Board, coached Little League baseball, and was a Cub Scout Cub Master. He was also well known for overseeing the Critter Scramble at the Linden Rodeo, an event he greatly enjoyed.

Steve had a lifelong love for animals and a deep passion for rodeo. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was known for his generous heart and willingness to serve others. He embraced life with enthusiasm, and those who knew him will remember his kind spirit, his determination, and, yes, his stubborn streak that was simply part of who he was.

Above all, Steve cherished his family. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who could always bring out his softest side. They brought him immense joy, and the time he spent with them was among his greatest treasures.

Mr. Morse was preceded in death by his parents, Sonny and Tommie Sue Morse; sister, Missy Morse; and his beloved fur baby, Happy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mrs. Vicki Morse; son, Brandon Morse and wife Dana; grandchildren who knew him as “Paw,” Kinslee Morse and Wyatt Morse; brother, David Morse; sisters-in-law, Brenda Ellis and Linda Manley; uncle, J.E. Watson; aunt, Daisy Watson; lifelong friend, Judy Turner; and a host of cousins and friends.

Steve’s legacy of faith, generosity, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
