Services for Marteleus DeShon Epps, 37, of Longview, will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Daingerfield High School Auditorium. Burial to follow at Whitmore Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
Marteleus DeShon Epps (Tay) was born in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Walter D. Epps (father) and Sheila E.. Turner (mother) on July 21, 1985. Three of Marteleus’ grandparents, Gladys Hayes, Leamon C. Epps, and Annie Bell Traylor preceded him in death.
Tay is a 2003 graduate of Daingerfield High School, Daingerfield, Texas. Marteleus Epps was a phenomenal Daingerfield Tiger athlete. To add, Marteleus received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico in the year of 2008. Also, Marteleus was a faithful member of New Victory Temple Pentecostal Church in Daingerfield, Texas from a youth until he moved away to Longview, Texas. In 2011, Marteleus accepted an Operator position at Eastman Chemical Company in Longview, Texas, and he also served as a Fire Fighter in the Fire Brigade, where he remained employed until death. He was a very loyal, dedicated employee and he was employed in these two positions for 11 years. Marteleus was known everywhere for his big, bright smile that instantly made you smile when you saw him. He was a quiet young man, but filled with an abundance of love for others and so much joy!
Marteleus leaves to cherish his memories his beautiful daughter, Nia Delone Epps of Longview, Texas; along with his amazing, loving mother, Sheila E. Turner and stepfather, Tony Turner; a bonus sister, Sydney Martin; and his surviving grandfather, Joe L. Hayes, all of Daingerfield, Texas. His memories will also be cherished by his father, Walter D. Epps, of Lone Star, Texas; as well as a host of aunts and uncles, Linda (Melvin) Lee of Daingerfield, Texas; Pamela Nunley of Daingerfield, Texas; Gary (Beth) Hayes of Dallas, Texas; Janius (Tony) Edwards of Daingerfield, Texas; Ricky Hayes of Daingerfield, Texas; Marcus (Fannie) Hayes of Cason, Texas; Latonya (Jerry) Chism of Daingerfield, Texas; Larry (Nanette) Epps of Cason, Texas; Michael Epps, Carolyn Epps, and Sharon Washington Epps, all of Daingerfield, Texas. In addition, Marteleus’ unforgettable memories will also be cherished by a host of cousins, great aunts and uncles, co-workers, and a vast amount of friends.
