Funeral services for Mr. Aagion Martin, age 28, of Katy, Texas, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 22, 2023 at New Testament Missionary Baptist Church in Naples, Texas. Burial to follow at Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
Aagion Dominique Martin (Aye Gee), son of Derek Lewis of Port Arthur, Texas and Shagitta (Gee) Martin of Naples, Texas, was born in Mount Pleasant, Texas on September 30, 1994. He was the first child for both parents and was the oldest of his four siblings, Brodies Myles III(Third), D’Erica, Daryus and Natalya Lewis.
While Shagitta was earning her bachelor’s degree at Prairie View A&M University, Aagion spent the first 4 years of his life with his grandmother and great grandmother, Glenda Martin of Naples, Texas and Gladys Mickens of Marietta, Texas. During this time, he became rooted in church. At the age of 5, Aagionwent to live with his mother, Shagitta, after she graduated from college and established their residence in Houston, Texas. Here is where he developed his love for music. Aagion would be heard singing gospel music in the bathtub at the top of his lungs. Every gospel song played in the car, he would sit in the back seat and sing with so much emotion that it would bring him to tears.
When Aagion was 14, he learned how to create music and beatsalong with lyrics that made everyone bob their heads. At the age of 18, Aagion graduated from Cy-Lakes High School in Katy, Texas in 2013 and continued his education at the Job Corp where he earned his Electrical Apprenticeship in 2015. Although he continued to work in his field, he never let go of his passion for music. He has made CDs and streams of music online where they can still be heard today. In his last days, he would spend sleepless nights in the garage creating music. He will continue to be a heavenly star.
Although his time was short on earth, he will live long in our lives. Along with his mom, dad and siblings, Aagion leaves behind a strong family that loves him so much. His grandfather, Dennis Martin and bonus grandmother, Gloria Martin of Omaha, Texas. His grandmothers Glenda Martin of Naples, Texas and Jolene Lewis of Port Arthur, Texas. He also leaves his Uncle Che’ Martin, Auntie Ruthie Martin, cousins Breana and Cameron Martin of Frisco, Texas and many great aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
