Larry Gene Hicks, 73, of Eastland, Texas, passed away on Jul 27, 2023. He was born on December 17, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to the late JW Hicks and Jane Powell Hicks. Larry was a loving Christian, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Pat Sutton Hicks; daughter, Sheila Hicks Crudgington and husband Robert; sons, James Larry Hicks and wife Amanda, Jason William Hicks and wife Ami; sister, Pearlee Wells; brothers, Jimmy Hicks, Lonny Dean Hicks (his twin brother), Curtis Hicks and wife Mary Lou; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry attended Pewitt High School and went on to have a successful career as a diesel mechanic for many years. He was highly skilled and dedicated to his work. Larry was ordained and served as a deacon at Shelton Avenue Baptist Church in Breckenridge, Texas, for many years. He later worshipped at Woodbridge Church in Ranger, Texas.
Larry found solace and strength in his faith by spending time with the Lord and with his wife at Lake Leon. In his free time, Larry enjoyed fishing and wood crafting, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and family. These hobbies brought him great joy and relaxation throughout his life. He loved everyone and always enjoyed a prank when possible.
Funeral services for Mr. Hicks will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Linden. Services will be officiated by his twin brother, Lonny Dean Hicks. Burial to follow at Creekmore Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. There will be a time of visitation beginning one hour prior to service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Creekmore Cemetery Association at 607 Scott Street, Omaha, Texas 75571.
