Funeral services for Ms. Elizabeth Collier Hopkins, age 82, of Lone Star, will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.Β Burial to follow at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Ore City.Β Ms. Hopkins will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Elizabeth Hopkins was born July 27, 1941, to the parentage of Willie Preston Collier and Idelia Collier in Marion County, Texas. She was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and attended Victory School.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Preston Collier; her mother, Idelia Collier; her husband of 48 years, Johnnie Hopkins; her sons, Connie Simmons, Jr. and Anthony Hopkins; her daughters, Barbara Simmons and Betty Simmons; her granddaughter, Taconda Conwright; sister, Ruthie Hill; brother, Willie Nesby Collier; brothers-in-law, Maurice Hopkins, Henry Tuggle, and Jimmy Hopkins.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Brenda Perry and Sharon “Huff” Jones; her son, Freddie “Bubba” Simmons (Rita); two sisters, Thynetta Harris and Katherine Buster; two brothers, Ray Collier and Raymond COllier (Dora); eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Brady Hopkins, Louis Hopkins, and Walter Hopkins (Glenda); three sisters-in-law, Gussie Stokes, Velma Woods (Billy), and Genneter Ellison;Β and her extended bonus family, to which she would open her doors and feed any time of day or night.
