Services for Ms. Gloria Griggs, 92, of Omaha will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024 at New Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery under, the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Ms. Griggs will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2024 at the funeral home.

Gloria Dean Griggs was born August, 2 1931 in Morris County Texas to the parentage of Asker Hurndon and Zephia Mae Hurndon.

Gloria was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for some time.

She loved the word of God and continued to study for as long she could, but nothing stopped her praise.

Gloria was preceded in death by both parents, Asker Hurndon and Zephia Mae Hurndon; her two sisters, Melba  Bailey, Mary Frazier; and her beloved youngest son, Terry A Griggs.

Gloria attended Dangerfield High School but later graduated from Plano High School.

After her family moved back to East Texas, Gloria attended Valerie Hurd’s Beauty and Barber College where she obtained her Cosmetology Degree. After moving to Dallas, she worked as a Cosmetologist and opened Gloria’s Nail Salon in the North Dallas area. Gloria owned and operated her salon for over 40 years until retirement.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her eldest son, Gary A Griggs; and daughter, Gloria A Jones.

She also leaves her grandchildren, Christopher Jones, Michael Jones, Kwentin Rice Griggs, Brittany Griggs, Maagan Griggs (Dappa) and husband Stanly Dappa, Jasmine Brown and husband Tawanna Brown, Shamara Lumpkin, Paisley  Lawrence , Terri Griggs; and niece Jennifer Bailey

A host of beautiful god-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and numerous loving relatives.
