Funeral services for Ms. Norma McKinney Clark Cates, age 85, of Avinger, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church.Β  Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.Β  There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Norma was born January 17, 1939 to Booker and Rosie Hagood McKinney and went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2024. She was very active in the community. She was a member of Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She volunteered in many organizations over the years, having once been awarded the Crystal Globe from the Hughes Springs Chamber of Commerce. She was a talented seamstress and if you needed a cake for a special occasion, Norma was the lady to call. She was well known for her beautiful wedding and birthday cakes. Norma was a loving mother and grandmother. She “loved her babies”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Clark; children, Karen Clark, Delwyn Clark, and Misty Clark; granddaughter, Charli Clark; brother, Pete McKinney; sister Ann Crossland; husband, Bill Cates; step-daughter, Elaine Cates; and very special cousins, Alice Hagood Davenport and Dan Hagood.

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah McDaniel; sister, Brooker McKinney; daughter-in-law, Jackie Clark; grandchildren, Erica Clark, Ashley McDaniel, Andi Fox, Chance Clark and wife Tabitha, Scott Qualls, Tiffany Willis and husband Billy, Dustee Clark Rawlings and husband Cody, Chaz Clark; great grandchildren, Noah Ragsdale, Mallory and Levi Sauceda, Andrea McDaniel, Skyler and Landon Fox, Lily Clark, Dustin Qualls, Kaycee and Kaylee Willis, Abigail and Liam Clark; step-daughter, Janie Cates King and family; and a host of extended family and friends.
