Funeral services for Mr. Marvin Scott Parvino, age 60, of Avinger, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Avinger.  Burial will follow at Avinger Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.  There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Marvin Scott Parvino was born May 14, 1963, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Marvin Earl Parvino and Bonnie Ray Abernathy Parvino.  He passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in Shreveport, Louisiana.  Mr. Parvino graduated from Texas Tech University with a Master of Science Degree in Animal Science.  He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Chuckwagon Cowboy Church.  He was a loving and caring man with a big heart.  He was a rancher by trade, was an author, artist, and he was also a poet.

He is survived by his parents, Marvin and Bonnie Parvino; son, Marvin Zachariah Parvino; daughter, Melissa Destarte Parvino; brothers:  Michael Shane Parvino (Christy), Danny Ray Parvino (Genice); three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Avinger Cemetery Association.

  2. For most of us, life seems to fly by much too quickly. But, for those who suffer a long and painful journey like Scott, life must seem to drag on much too long. Thankfully, Scott’s journey here on earth has ended, and he has been relieved of perpetual pain and suffering. He is resting in the arms of his Lord and Savior where he will enjoy eternal peace.
