Funeral services for Mr. Charles Buford, age 77, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Norris S. Curry CME Church in Naples, Texas. Burial to follow at Morning Star Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Buford passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 in Desoto, Texas.
Charles Buford was born February 27, 1947, in Naples, Texas to Ober Jean (Buford) Franklin and J. D. Emmerson Carter. Charles graduated from Carver High School and later went on to join the Army. He fought in the Vietnam war and received an Honorable discharge after years of service.
Charles was previously married to Connie. They had three daughters, Nicole Buford of Desoto, Texas, Detra Reeves-Dodd (Joseph) of Dallas, Texas, Phyllis Mike (John) of Dallas, Texas. Charles and Connie were later divorced, and Charles and Mary were married on July 5, 2005. Charles and Mary had three daughters, Alberta Northcutt-Whitley of Frisco, Texas, Quinetta Whitley of Austin, Texas and Denise Buford of Ogden Utah.
Charles leaves behind three sisters, Ethel Crear (William) of Grand Prairie, Texas. Bonnie Roper (Bernard) of Baltimore, Maryland and Polly Peters (Jerry) of Houston, Texas. One brother, Tony Sanders. He leaves behind two sisters-in-law Kimberly Sanders (Gary) of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Laurie Franklin (Kenneth) of California. Charles leaves behind eight grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
