Mr. John Lyle Nivens, age 47, of Daingerfield, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home in Daingerfield on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. There will be a time of viewing and visitation with the family from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. A memorial service will take place 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses – Daingerfield.
John was preceded in death by his father Richard Lyle Nivens and is survived by his mother Carolee Nivens of Daingerfield, TX as well as his sister Mary Allison Shaddix (and husband James) of Hughes Springs, TX, brother William Justin Nivens (and wife Helga) of Beaverton, OR, younger sister Rebecca Bell Nivens of Daingerfield, TX, and nieces Alonna Shaddix of Lone Star, TX and Shelby Shaddix of Longview, TX.
John Lyle Nivens was born November 3, 1976, in Linden, Texas. He was a member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Daingerfield from an early age until his death. He did serve at the world headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New York from February of 1996 until April of 2001. The remainder of his life was spent in his home state of Texas where he enjoyed reading as well as playing music and chess. For those who knew John, a typical sentence consisted of about 2 words, so he was a man of few words. But he had a large heart and was loved by many people that had the privilege to know him.

My mother was John’s teacher at Avinger and she so loved him and Mary, William. So sorry we are praying for the family.

some of my most cherished memories were spending time with John Mary Will and Becca. I remember piling in the car to go to the galley pub where we all worked, listening to music and laughing so hard we couldn’t breathe.
