Funeral services for Mr. Daren Dowell, age 58, of Pittsburg, Texas, will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Dowell will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Daren “Red” Dowell was born on July 14, 1966 in Avinger, Texas to Willie V. Dowell and Louisa Dowell. He joined Mt. Moriah Church at an early age. Daren attended Avinger High School.

He worked at Wheeling Machine in Hughes Springs for 20 years., leading the paint line and as a fort lift operator for material handling until it closed down. Red loved spending time with his family and friends. If there was a family function, Red was sure to be there.

Daren was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Willie V. Dowell; and one nephew, DeMarcus Darnell.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one son, DeJour; one daughter, Rebecca Williams Dowell of Pittsburg, TX; his twin sister, Karen Dowell of Avinger, TX; sisters, Janet (William) Chism of Lone Star, TX, Dennie Dowell of Euless, TX, Kimberly (Jonathan) Mickens of Naples, TX, and Yolonda (Gerald) Hatten of Hughes Springs, TX; two step daughters, Yazmine Williams and Abria Craddock; three grandchildren; a special cousin, Michael Ray Bolden; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
