Resided in: Tyler, Texas

Hallie Gertrude Rhyne, 94, was called home to our Lord August 3, 2024, at Prestige Estates in Tyler, Texas. She was born January 4, 1930, in Hopkins County, Texas. Mrs. Rhyne was predeceased by her parents, Rufus Jackson Watson and Clarabel (Adee) Watson, husband Roy Ballinger Rhyne, son Donald Glen Rhyne, and great grandsons Liam and Finn Rhyne. Hallie married the love of her life, Roy Ballinger Rhyne, after his return from World War II, and the couple settled in the Bear Creek community of Linden, Texas. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on May 31,1998.

Surviving are her son Ronald R. Rhyne and wife, Charlotte of Houston; Β daughter-in-law Debbie Rhyne of Linden; daughter Brenda Gail Green and husband Ronald of Arp; daughter Sharon Nan McClellands and husband Jesse of Baytown; son David Arnold Rhyne and wife Mary of Linden; son, Brad Alan Rhyne of Jefferson, and brother Charley Glen Watson. Surviving in addition are 14 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren.

In her earlier life, Hallie was an avid fisherman, gardener, and seamstress, sewing costumes, dresses, and special clothing for her family, but first and foremost, she loved being the matriarch of her large family. Holidays, especially Thanksgivings, were her favorite times when the extended family would meet at Hallie and Roy’s in a lively and loving gathering. She was an example to all of us of Christ’s love and the importance of family. Hallie was a resident of Prestige Estates in Tyler, where she also embraced her caregivers as part of her family. She was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church under the loving leadership of former pastor, Dr. Bryan Baggett.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 8, from 10:00 am until noon at the Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden, Texas, followed by a 1:00 p.m. graveside service at the Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.

  5. I am a L-K 1967 classmate of Ronald’s. I am from Caves Springs and rode the school bus with all of you. My heart goes out to each of you for your many losses. I really did not know your mother. However, the neighbors, Willow Dean Harris, Trudy Harris, etc. spoke so highly of Mrs. Rhyne. May your wonderful memories bring you comfort, especially at the holidays. Bless each of you. Sheron Harris
