Graveside services for Ms. Mary Jane Washington, age 93, of Linden, Texas, will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 205 at New Colony Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden.

Mary Jane Washington passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025. Born on November 30, 1931, Jane lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, faith, and the quiet strength that held her family together.

Jane married young and shared 70 devoted years with her beloved husband, Donald Washington, before his passing in 2018. She was a talented seamstress, working for many years at Allen Brothers, where her skill and care shone through in every stitch. Her sewing room was a testament to her eye for detail, always neat, tidy, and color-coded, just the way she liked it.

A long-time member of New Colony Baptist Church, Jane faithfully taught Sunday School for more than two decades. She was deeply rooted in her faith and treasured her fellowship with the SOS ladies, where laughter and friendship were never in short supply.

She had a gift for creating beauty around her, from her meticulously kept yard to the love she poured into her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Jane’s quiet presence, her warmth, and her steady hands will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Washington, and two sisters. She is survived by her three children: Ronnie Washington of Longview, Donnie Washington and wife Christy of Calumet, Oklahoma, and Christa Fiedler of Linden. She also leaves behind five grandsons and one granddaughter, Ron Washington, Daniel Washington, Don Washington, Melissa Willingham, Craig Wilham, and Aaron Wilham; along with a number of great-grandchildren, her sisters, Sue Merritt and Louise Cook, and many extended family members and dear friends.
