Mr. William Paul Chism was born on January 17, 1952, in Omaha, Texas, to the late Willie D. Chism and Hattie R. Younger. On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, William passed away peacefully at Longview Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. William was a proud graduate of Daingerfield High School, Class of 1972. During his school years, he became well-known for his remarkable athletic talents. A gifted multi-sport athlete, he excelled in basketball, baseball, and football, and played a vital role in leading the Daingerfield Tigers to a State Football Championship in 1968—an achievement that remained a source of pride throughout his life. After high school, William dedicated many years to hard and honest work. He was employed at Pilgrim’s Pride in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, where he not only contributed greatly to operations but also formed lasting friendships with coworkers who became like family. He later transitioned to A & E Machine Shop, where he worked diligently for over 15 years. Unfortunately, an on-the-job injury eventually led to his retirement, but he faced that chapter of life with grace and quiet strength. Known for his warm heart and generous spirit, William was a beloved presence in his community. His home was always open, and he found joy in hosting friends and family, sharing stories, and offering a kind word. One of his favorite pastimes was sitting on his front porch—often with a smile, a wave, and a kind greeting for anyone who passed by. William Paul Chism will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, strength, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie R.
