Carol Elaine Stukins passed away at her home on June 22, 2025. She was born February 17, 1949, in Richmond, Indiana, to Carl and Harriett Huntsman.
Carol was the sweetest soul, deeply loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom she made feel special in their own way. In her younger years, she was often found outside working horses with her husband, John. The two shared a deep love of horses and spent many years showing them together, raising several championship horses along the way. Carol had a special fondness for miniature horses and loved riding in a cart pulled by them.
She met her husband, John while working at Ohio Plate Glass in Ohio. After they moved to Texas, she held a few jobs before settling into a longtime role as a receptionist at Blackburn’s Syrup, where she worked faithfully for many years before retiring.
One of Carol’s most cherished traditions was the annual girls’ shopping trip each November. What began as a fun getaway with her daughter and granddaughter eventually grew to include her granddaughter-in-law, and even great-granddaughters. It became a special time that so many looked forward to each year, filled with laughter, memories, and generations of love.
Carol was a true gem of a lady. She was never one to leave the house without her hair done and her “face on.” She was lovingly known as Granny, Mamaw, and Gaga by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Stukins, Jr.; her brother, Gordon Huntsman; and her grandson, Keith Allen Seery.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, John Stukins; her children, Carol Gaver and husband Jim, Toni Stukins, Mark Stukins, Denise Sorge and husband Eric, and Mike Stukins and wife Kandice; her twin brother, Darrell Huntsman and wife Suzanne; brother, Gail Huntsman and wife Kim; sister, Nancy DeBruler and husband Will; and sister-in-law, Janie McQuire; her grandchildren, Brian Aukerman and wife Stephanie, Austin Stukins, Jason Mummert and wife Jennifer, Kevin Stukins and wife Jana, Filisha Moss and husband Luke, Stephen Rhyne and wife Brittany, Christina Shields and husband Randall, Jaryn Peschel and wife Amanda, and Jordan Whittaker and husband Levi, and Cierra Harvey-Vest; 16 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends; and her special friend and caretaker, Melissa Highsmith.
