Born in: Mt. Pleasant, Texas
Resided in: Naples, Texas

Michael Wayne Jones, age 50, of Naples, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 26, 2025. Born on May 4, 1975, Michael lived a full and spirited life, marked by his deep love for family, the outdoors, and a good laugh.

Michael was a man who never met a stranger and could fix just about anything…“anything but a broken heart,” as he often said. A welder by trade and one of the hardest workers you’d ever meet, he was known for his determination, loyalty, and a knack for solving problems with both skill and grit.

He found his greatest joy in life’s simple pleasures: fishing, hunting, camping, and enjoying a cold beer. He loved cooking for family and friends and was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. Being “Pops” was a role he treasured, and he kept his grandchildren laughing with his trademark invitation to a “butt whoopin’ party.”

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Morris Allen Jones. He is survived by his mother, Margaret Smith and her husband Ken; his children, Kristen Burris and husband Jesse, Ashley Roberts and husband Doug, Austin Jones and Destiny Reece, Charity Jones and Zackary Braudaway, and Preston Jones; his brothers, James Jones and Tip Jones; and his beloved grandchildren: Journey Fountain, Rilynn Roberts, Jessi Burris, Dallas Roberts, Irelynn Burris, KimberLee Roberts, Steveigh Roberts, Akyli Jones, Braeli Braudaway, Titus Jones, and one more blessing on the way. He also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.  His humor, heart, and strength will live on in the stories shared and the lives he touched. He was deeply loved, and always will be.

Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
