Born in: Cornett, Texas
Resided in: Avinger, Texas

Carlton Crossland, of Avinger, Texas, was born on July 20, 1939, in Cornett, Texas, to Albert and Annie Crossland. He passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in Longview, Texas.

Carlton was a proud United States Marine. After a long career with Lonestar Steel, he retired and then earned his CDL, beginning what he considered his third career as a truck driver. Driving a truck was more than a job to Carlton, it was something he truly loved. He enjoyed the freedom of the open road, the sense of purpose it gave him, and the people he met along the way. Even after most would have chosen to rest, Carlton never wanted to stop working, and trucking allowed him to keep doing what he loved for as long as he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ann Crossland.

Carlton is survived by his son, Chris Crossland; his sister, Ruth Rotramel; and numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2025, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs, Texas.
