Ethel Faye Hayes

Funeral services for Ms. Ethel Faye Hayes, 76, of Longview, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2025 in the Chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.  Ms. Hayes will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ms. Ethel Faye Hayes, 76, of Longview, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, at a local hospital. Born on December 3, 1949, in Titus County, Texas, Ethel was the beloved daughter of the late Fred Hayes and Christene Bryson Hayes.

Ethel was educated in the Mount Pleasant school system and was known throughout her life for her joyful spirit, kind heart, and generous nature. She had a deep love for people and never met a stranger, always eager to engage in warm conversation and offer a listening ear.

A devoted mother, Ethel cherished her son, Joe Hayes, and took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Keeli, Jolie, and Jayla Hayes. Her love extended beyond immediate family, touching the lives of her nieces, nephews, and many others in her extended family. She shared a special bond with her niece, Vivian Baker, with whom she spent many cherished moments.

Ethel was a faithful member of Shady Grove Christian Church, where her gentle spirit and unwavering faith were a source of strength and inspiration.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bobby Hayes; and her sisters, Patricia Mack, Shirley Bell, Betty Layfette, and Janice Hayes.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, survived by her son, Joe Hayes; her brother, Al Hayes; her sister, Foricetene Kidd; her grandchildren, Keeli, Jolie, and Jayla Hayes; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends who will deeply miss her presence.
