Melba Perkins

Funeral services for Melba Perkins, 90, of Avinger, will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026, in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Burial will follow at Veal Switch Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation for family and friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026, at the funeral home.

Melba Perkins passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, at her home. She was born June 24, 1935, in Hazelhurst, Mississippi, to Plumber and Katie Bailey White.

Melba was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and will be remembered for her caring spirit and devotion to those she loved.

She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Ortiz and Wanda (Gov) Ellington; nine grandchildren, Juanita Jude, Dana Perez, Tammy Lemley, Kayla Fisher, Ashley Perkins, Crystal Simmons, Daniel Simmons, Scott Huggins, and Zachary Tackett; nineteen great-grandchildren; and fifteen great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Billy R. Perkins; her daughter, Rita Fisher; and three great-grandsons, Colby Day, James Brandon Graham, and Daniel Simmons.
