John Wistl

John Wistl, 81, of Linden, Texas, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, in Hughes Springs, Texas. He was born August 19, 1944, in Abilene, Texas, to John and Jodean Smartt Wistl.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he spent many years working in retail management. John was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Plano.

He enjoyed hunting, reading, working crossword puzzles, and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love of family, his quiet strength, and his dedication to those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one son.

He is survived by his wife, Marita Catchings Wistl; one son, Jeff Wistl; one daughter, Eva Lowe; one son-in-law, Jason Rodriguez; four granddaughters, Skyler Smith, Brinley Lowe, Victoria Wistl, and Brooklynn Wistl; and two grandsons, Mason Wistl and Nicholas Wistl.

There are no services scheduled at this time.

Arrangements are under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
