Edward Alvis Riddle, affectionately known as “Eddie,” was born January 6, 1948, in Houston, Texas, to Lindon and Iwana Riddle. He passed away on May 28, 2026.

Eddie was truly one of a kind, a real character with a larger-than-life personality. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone he crossed paths with. He was rough and tough on the outside, but underneath it all he had one of the softest hearts around. He was always ready with a grin, a joke, or a story, and to know him was to love him… unless, of course, you happened to get on his bad side.

A proud patriot, Eddie served with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He wanted to serve his country so badly that he was known to joke he may not have been completely truthful about his age when he enlisted.

In his younger years, Eddie lived life wide open and often said that his beloved wife, Bobbie, “saved him.” Bobbie kept him grounded and by his side through life’s ups and downs. When she passed away, a part of him was lost too.

Eddie worked for many years as an ironworker supervisor before later becoming a roofer. No matter how hard he worked, he was always willing to help someone in need, often doing roofing jobs for little or no pay just to lend a hand. His generosity, loyalty, and willingness to help others were simply part of who he was.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bobbie Simpson Riddle; his parents, Lindon and Iwana Riddle; brothers, Robert and Kenneth Riddle; sister, Glenna McElhaney; sons, Allen and Chris Riddle; step-daughter, LaDonna Brook; and step-son, Rickey Nichols.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, William Hargett and wife Tabitha, and Kenny Riddle; step-daughters, Sondra Turner and Jeannie Goodwin and husband Rocky; step-son, Carol Nichols; grandchildren, William, Keira, Athienna, and Edward Hargett, and Kimberly Riddle; sister, Gail Hall Martin; nephews, Rod, Stephen, Stuart Hall, and Kenny Riddle; nieces, Lori Whatley and Sherry Riddle; along with numerous extended family members and friends who will forever remember Eddie.
