Funeral services for Mr. R. C. Bolden, 91, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Hughes Springs Community Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Bolden will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

R.C. Bolden was born November 23, 1934 to the late Ralph Bolden and Veola Gray in Avinger, Texas. He graduated from Traylor High School Class of 1954 in Hughes Springs, Texas. He worked at Freeman Steele for many years until he retired. He met and married Lois Ann Stanton-Bolden on August 2, 1967, to this union five children were joined.
He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with Hughes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Hughes Springs and served as an active member until he moved to Dallas, Texas.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, he closed his eyes to rest peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; one sister Francis Connor-Gray-West; one brother Walter Connor.
He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters and two sons; Phyllis (Lavanne) Scott of Savannah, GA; Jacqueline Castle of Arlington, TX; and Vannie (Stanley) Manjang of Omaha, TX; Paul Bolden of Dallas, TX; Elton (Debbie) Bolden of Mt. Pleasant, TX.
He also leaves nine grandchildren, Corion (Robin) Jones of Milwaukee, WI; Brittnee Bolden of De Berry, TX; Desmond (Ciara) Royal of Norcross, GA; Chelsea Jackson of Arlington, TX; Ashley (Marquell) Bolden of Midlothian, TX; Simone Bouston of Mesquite, TX; Tiffanee (Robert) James of Nash, TX; Phillip Bolden of Arlington, TX; and Treston (Dakota) Alexander of Hallsville, TX. 9 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
He shared a special relationship with his nieces Penny (Ollie Sr.) Nelson and Lorie Dixon, and his bonus son and grandson, Gregory Tabron and Darren (Stephanie) Tabron. And let’s not forget his domino partners, Micheal (Rose) Mack. A special thanks to his doctors, therapists, and caregivers who have served him relentlessly over the years.

RC was a fine man and a fine friend. I met him in 1976 when we both worked at Friedman. He was the first man that treated me like a man. I’ll never forget him. He was the best domino player I ever saw. I got layed off in 1982 but stayed in touch with RC until he moved out to Ft. Worth. We lost touch but Peter Montgomery would try to keep me posted about RC. I’m out of town and can’t make it back in time for the funeral but I will keep you all in my prayers. I was blessed to know and work with him. Again, he was a fine man and friend.
