Jerry Mark Phillips, known to most as Mark, was born April 4, 1944, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. He passed away June 28, 2026, at his home in Linden.

Mark graduated from Highland Park High School and remained a loyal fan through the years, especially keeping up with their football team. He worked for many years at the Callier Center for Communication Disorders in Dallas, where he worked on the machines used to test hearing.

Mark loved the outdoors. He enjoyed running and participated in many 5K and 10K races through the years. On his own property, he cleared running trails and found great joy in simply being outside. Mark was a thinking man who did not need music or television to be content; he was at peace with his own thoughts. When he was no longer able to run, he still enjoyed riding his side-by-side and four-wheelers along the trails he had made.

Family was very important to Mark. He loved when his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter came to visit, and after his granddaughter married, he always wanted her husband, Corey, to join them as well. The family shared many special times together riding trails, enjoying Fourth of July fireworks, and gathering around huge bonfires.

Mark was a wonderful and supportive father. He loved cheering on his daughter, Amy, at her softball games and spent many hours practicing with her through the years. When he became a grandfather, he loved hearing about his granddaughter Taylor’s sporting events. He was also creative and resourceful, always finding ways to fix things, and he was especially skilled at working with wood.

He was preceded in death by his father, Travis Phillips; and mother, Mary Tindel.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Darryl Smith of McKinney; sister, Paula Bearden and husband, Gene of Linden; granddaughter, Taylor Brayton and husband, Corey; and his very special Lucky Kitty.
