Cecil Fitts

Graveside services for Mr. Cecil Fitts, 88, of Linden, Texas, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2026, at Linden Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Linden.

Cecil Howard Fitts was born December 22, 1937, in Linden, Texas, to Loyd and Christine Fitts. He passed away peacefully at his home in Linden on July 23, 2026.

Cecil served in the United States Army for two years. After completing his military service, he went to work for Mrs. Baird’s Bread Company in Lubbock, Texas. It was there that he met the love of his life, Jane. They were married for 61 years.

After they were married, Cecil and Jane traveled throughout Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Louisiana while he worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron, building oil and water tanks. After retirement, he loved working on his farm and caring for his horses and cattle. He attended Pinecrest Baptist Church.

Cecil was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Fitts; his parents; his brother and sister-in-law; his nephews; and his beloved fur babies, Baby Hercules, Bearkat, and Spooks.

Cecil is survived by his sister, Sharon (J.H.) Green; his niece, Christy (Danny) Mayfield; his sisters-in-law, Esther Bell of Austin, Texas, and Carolyn (Robert) Cox of Natchitoches, Louisiana; his brother-in-law, Hayden Bishop of Flagstaff, Arizona; numerous nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends; and his fur baby, Blacky.

The family would like to thank Prime Care Home Health and Heritage Hospice for loving Cecil and taking care of him over the years.
