Funeral services for Mr. Tommy Watkins, 81, of Hughes Springs, Texas, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church, with Bro. Randy Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends beginning one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.
Mr. Watkins was born on March 28, 1945, in Cass County, Texas, to Mr. Elvis Vance Watkins and Mary Christine (Bailey) Watkins. He passed away on August 29, 2026, at his home in Hughes Springs, surrounded by his loving family.
Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. He was a member of Hughes Springs Missionary Baptist Church for more than 40 years and, more recently, attended Turkey Creek Baptist Church.
Tommy was a true all-American man with a loving heart and a strong devotion to his family. He was happiest when surrounded by those he loved and especially enjoyed family get-togethers, cookouts, and karaoke. No matter the occasion or circumstance, Tommy could always be counted on to stand by his family’s side.
A hardworking man throughout his life, Tommy believed in giving his best and treating others with kindness. He loved people, loved his family deeply, and leaves behind many cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvis Vance and Mary Christine (Bailey) Watkins; brother, Tony Glenn Watkins; niece, Kelly Sanders; nephew, Shawn Stroman.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Regina Watkins; son, Randy Watkins and wife, Jaclyn; daughter, Karen Ragan and husband, Danny; sons, Cecil West, Jr. and wife, Nina, and Patrick West and wife, Andrea; brothers, Louis Watkins and wife, Claudia, and Roger Watkins and wife, Twyla; sister, Shirley Latham and husband, Jim; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Tommy’s love for his family, his faith, and his country will remain a lasting part of the legacy he leaves behind.

Despite appearances to the contrary; Tommy was a quite, gentle, but strong person whom I thought the world of and will miss him. Tommy and I share some great times and experiences together, he was a dear friend whom I loved and respected.
