Wesley Eugene Richey Sr., 62, of Longview, Texas, was born on June 1, 1964, in Longview to Edna Josephine Barnes, whose strength and compassion helped shape the foundation of his life. He passed away on August 30, 2026, following a motor vehicle accident.
Wesley will be remembered for his strong work ethic, compassionate heart, caring nature, and deep love for his family and the Lord. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought joy, and his heart created a special connection with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Wesley was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Josephine Barnes; his father, John Barnes; his grandmother, Myrle Wilson; his aunt, Janie Rogers; and his brother-in-law, Richard Bryan Bowman. Their influence and love remained with him throughout his life, and he carried their memory with deep devotion.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Blake Ellis Richey and Wesley Eugene Richey Jr. and wife, Melissa; three grandchildren, Makayla, Payton, and Scarlett; three sisters, Teresa Louise Vader and husband, Kendall, Laurie Ann Ramsey and husband, Donald, and Katherine Beatrice Bowman; his cousin, Kenneth Monk; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. They will continue to honor his legacy through the stories they share and the love they carry forward.
A celebration of Wesley’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Trails End Cowboy Church in Harrison County, where family and friends will gather to remember and honor a man who meant so much to so many. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Wesley will be laid to rest at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Harleton, Texas, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
Wesley’s memory will remain a blessing, carried gently in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
