Here is a poem I use to say to my mother. I hope it brings you comfort. Mom-To one who bears the sweetest name and adds a luster to the same. Who shares my joys, who cheers when sad. The greatest friend I ever had. Long life to her for theres no other can take the place of my dear mother.Class of 1972-1973
Mrs. Spurlin was my favorite teacher. I went to elementary school where the tobacco store is now. She lived me so much. She use too carry me out to the car where my mother was waiting to pick me up. And when Mr. Spurlin was alive and their son still lived at home, couple of us kids decided to tp their yard. Little did we know Mr. Spurlin and his son were in the bushes waiting on us. They jumped out of those bushes and scared us too death. She was one of the people in my life I will never forget.
Memories of Sweet Mary SpurlinMary was such a sweet, loving and thoughtful person. Every time we traveled to Texas to visit all the Spurlin family members along with my Mother Edna and Father Clarence Godfrey, Mary was such a pleasure to talk to and visit with. The Spurlin family visited our family in Charlotte, NC years ago, Mary traveled with her dog King. She loved her little dog just as much as she loved all her family members. It brings us comfort to know Mary is in Heaven with God. Love always-Darryl,Amelia and Ryan Johnson
I thought of Mrs. Spurlin as a great lady, very smart, loving, and a friend. Have a wonderful time up there and we will see you again one day! Prayers of comfort for your family.
