James Oscar Corbett Hatcher passed away on November 21, 2015. He was 73 years old at the time of his passing. Mr. Hatcher was born August 21, 1942 to parents, the late Samuel Lawrence Hatcher and Mildred Alice Hatcher. He also follows two brothers who passed away in infancy. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Melva Ann Hatcher; his daughter, Georgianna D. Newburg; son, Samuel J. Hatcher; sisters, Glenda Leon and Violet Capps and grandson, Gabriel D. newburg. He is also survived by numerous relatives in East Texas. Despite having four names Mr. Hatcher was referred to by most of his relatives as Buddy. Mr. Hatcher was a hard working man that never met a challenge that he did not feel like he could conquer. Many difficult renovation talks can bear witness to this fact. Mr. Hatcher was a kind and generous man that rarely met a stranger that he cold not carry on a conversation with, or a dog or cat that he would not stop to rescue from the side of the road.In his lifetime, Mr. Hatcher was an accomplished gunsmith turning out beautiful works of functional art from hand picked wood sourced far and wide. Additionally, Mr. Hatcher worked for a number of years as a Truck Driver for East Texas Motor Freight and retired from that company with a proud record of millions of safe miles driven in the Dallas area. Mr. Hatcher will be most remembered for his weary sense of humor, compassionate nature and stubborn determination. Though practical, Mr. Hatcher was also a dreamer, builder, and writer who had designed his own home, penned humorous essays, and chronicled his life living with his beloved wife and pets. James Oscar Corbett Hatcher, son, husband, father, grandfather and friend will be missed by many and celebrated by those who knew him best. The family would like to thank Martha Gayle Simonds, Sherry Flarity, Ryan and Amber Flarity, Bro. Taylor Duncan, Giovannis Restaurant, Cass County Sheriff Powell, Cass County Fire Department and Emergency Responders. There will be a celebration of Mr. Hatchers life, following the service at 1p.m., at Giovannis Restaurant, 302 E. Houston St. in Linden.
