John Wesley Jones

john jones
John Wesley Jones, 68, of Linden passed away, November 13, 2015. John was born July 23, 1947 in Houston, Texas. His spirit is carried on by his wife, his daughters and son, and his grandchildren who lovingly called him papa. John was a loving husband, and by choice, became a father and papa to his family that adored him and to whom he taught so many life lessons. He and Cheri met and shared a love for dancing that the entire family loved to watch; they also shared a love of animals, never turning a puppy away. Johns love of fishing was contagious not only to his family, but to those he touched with his dedication as a professional fisherman and fishing guide for over 40 years. Whether it was speeding across a lake to get to his favorite fishing spot or trolling to find that elusive 20 pound bass, John was a fisherman at heart. In his professional life, John enjoyed a prestigious career as a senior manager, a turn-around specialist, and MSHA Instructor, focusing on plant management, manufacturing operations, and regulatory matters. He came to Linden in 1994 when he assumed the position of Sidco Minerals Plant Manager, applying his senior management experience and brilliance in physics and chemistry to manage the mining and refining operations of this international producer of ferrous carbonate. John was a resourceful manager with keen ability to engender respect from employees and a trusted manager and friend. His mastery as an efficiency expert resulted in his professional travels achieving success in streamlining operations for many large corporations including Rockwool Industries. Even more, his mastery of storytelling and sharing his life stories with his family and friends of these experiences are legendary to those closest to himbringing tears and laughter as we all knew at least 50% of the story was true.We just didnt always know which 50%. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Cheri Jones of Linden; daughters, Kimberly Peterson and Ronne Hines; son, Douglas Lippitt; seven grandchildren, Shelby Peterson, Ashley Peterson, Domineik Peterk, Emma Hines, J.W. Hines, Reagan Lippitt, Ellie Lippitt and one sister, Nita Jones, and countless extended family touched by his generosity and love of life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene Jones and Morean C. Walker Jones; and two brothers, Eugene Jones and Ben Jones. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 27, 2015 in the chapel of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. The family requests that donations be made to the Texas Parks and Wildlife in lieu of flowers given Johns love of the beautiful lakes of East Texas.
