The Story began on August 7, 1926 with John R. Castle being born to Frank and Vannie Castle in Upshur County. John was a member of Love Chapel MBC and attended regularly until his health began to fail. He served as a member of the Trustee Board. He served in the Navy and was honorably discharged. John retired from Lone Star Steel after working over 38 years there. He was a truck farmer and business owner. In the community he demonstrated his kindness and love to all who needed a helping hand. In December 1949, John married Gemeta Brannon. To this union God blessed them with one daughter, Genneter Ellison and one son, Jimmy Tyrone Castle. On September 5, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. John came to the final chapter of his Christian was on earth and entered eternal heavens gates to be at rest with God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Vannie Castle; wife, Gemeta Castle; sister, Marie Callier, Annie Walker, Gracie Newson, Oreane Elder; brother, Felix, L.J. and Frank, Jr; daughter, Brenda; step-mother, Buleah Castle; step-sisters, Carrie King and Lois Bolden; and grandson, Samuel Tyrone Castle. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Genneter Ellison; son, Jimmy Castle; grandchildren, Sheena Prince (James), Wanakee (Ty), Jasmine, Jade; great-grandchildren, Samilya, Nari, Thia, Brayden Lee, Easton, John Raymond, and Samuel T.; and many nieces and nephews. Services for Mr. Castle will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at Love Chapel Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Love Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
