Jesus said unto her: I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. Mr. Robert Lee Chism was born September 27, 1926 in Cass County, Texas to the union of Janie Montgomery and Billie Chism and passed from this earth on February 20, 2015. At a young age, he became a member of Grimfield AME church in Lone Star, Texas. He was educated in the Marion County School System. He joined the military in December of 1945. During his service he received an Army Occupation medal and a World War II Victory Medal. His specialty was Rifleman 745. He received an honorable discharge in January of 1947. He worked in the lumber business for many years. Robert is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, U. S. Chism, Joe Chism, Colia Chism, and Sluter Chism; five sisters, Dovie Police, Dollie Cummings, Mary Brooks, Rosie Connor (his twin) and Viola Gilliam. He leaves to cherish his love and memory, sisters, Mattie Hamilton and Argie Rainey, both of Grand Prairie, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Chism will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.
