Funeral services for Danny Lewis Cate II, of Jefferson, will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Markle and Bro. Dan McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at Cornett Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Danny was born October 5, 1981 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas and passed away November 2, 2014 in Hughes Springs. He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Cate I; grandparents, Wilma and Les Huddleston and Bill and Lorece Cate; and cousin, Jerry Terry. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Caleigh Cate; fiance, Amanda Powell; mother, Lynn Cate Lovelady and step-father Tommy Lovelady; two sisters, Christi Cate of Hughes Springs and Lezlie Feagins and husband J. C. of Blue Ridge, Texas; nieces and nephews, Dakote Cate, Sierra Blankenship, Bailey Svrcek, Clay Feagins, and Ross Feagins; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

  1. Danny always protected me. Anytime i was with him no matter the situation I knew I was safe. He had that big brother mentality about him. I am thankful for the memories he and I shares from cutting fencerows, mowing yards, coaching little league, and back road riding. He was a special person. Whoever reads these please know if I can do anything for you I will. Danny always did for me and i am thankful for him and you. Love Little John

  22. I didn't get the chance to meet Dan but I heard all about him from my dear friend Amanda Powell. I wish I had the chance to let him know how thankful I was that him and his daughter came into my friends life. He will be greatly missed.   25. We didn't know Dan very well, but met him a few times at Reggie and Scott's get togethers. I was always struck by his friendliness and how it seemed he knew you when he just met you. The most outstanding thing about him to me was the love in his eyes for Amanda. It showed all the time. We are so sorry for his loved ones. He had a great spirit and that will last forever.

So willing to help out a friend and so adamant we all cherished the moments we had together. I am so sorry for your family. I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow they are all going through. I hope they can find comfort and rejoice in knowing you are in a place that is far better than this world we live in. We will see you again one day!!
