On May 20, 1920, in Morris County, God blessed the late Anna Wiggenton and George Harper with a baby girl, Anna Louise. During early childhood she was raised b her grandmother Cassie Wiggenton and the Lawton family until she united with her father George Harper and step-mother Bertha. She attended school in Marshall, Texas. She united with Shady Grove Christian Church at an early age and later moved her membership to Wallick Chapel Christian Church. She worked faithfully in Church until her health failed. She would later become Mother of the church. At the age of 18, she married Curlee Evans. To this union one daughter, Annette Marie, was born. She later married A.B. Davis. To this union eight children were born. She was a devoted mother to these and six stepchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands and two children, Adriel and Bette; five step children, Mary Heath, Arthur Jones (Searcy), Harold (Duke), Arthur Lee (Buddy), and Mattie Roberts; two brothers, John Ivory Smith and Nank Lawton; two sisters, Leola Beard and Grace Hubbard. Left with precious memories: her children, Annette Clark (James) of Hawkins, Texas, Mary Blue and Pat Shepherd of Mesquite, Texas, G.B. Davis of Lone Star, Texas, Linda Gilstrap of Daingerfield, Texas, Donnie Davis (Joyce), Gale Jones (J.C.) of Pittsburg, Texas, and Claudine Whitmore of Lancaster, Texas; one sister, Marilyn Hart of Big Sandy, Texas; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 1, 2014 at Wallick Chapel Christian Church in Daingerfield. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Cason, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mrs. Davis will lie in state Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
