Kenneth James Morgan

Kenneth James Morgan was born March 15, 1926 to James Edgar and Viva Oretta Roberson Morgan. He joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven on October 13, 2014. Kenneth answered the call to serve his country and was in the US Navy from June, 1944 to February, 1946, sailing on the USS Okanogan. He enjoyed the ship reunions and life long buddies from the Navy. Kenneth wore his Okanogan hat proudly. On June 21, 1947 Kenneth married Bobbie Lou Vinson. He recently said she was the prettiest and smartest girl he had ever known and she still is. June 21st this year they celebrated 67 years of marriage. Kenneth and Bobbie were still sweethearts sitting on the sofa holding hands in his last days. Kenneth retired from Lone Star Steel. He enjoyed his farm and always had cows, donkeys and horses to keep him busy and entertain his grandchildren. Kenneth was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Linden, Texas. The Senior class, church functions, and the 42 group provided many hours of enjoyment for Kenneth and Bobbie. Kenneth is survived by his wife Bobbie Lou Vinson Morgan; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tony Kent and Vicki Morgan, James Mark and Nona Morgan, and Vinson Kyle and Rebbecca Morgan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Billie Jean Morgan, Wayne and Ann Morgan; one sister, Mae Don Dudley; six grandchildren, Karen Orlowski and husband Ryan, Ben Morgan, Ann Marie Morgan, Lauren Morgan, Jordan Godwin and husband Derrik, and Judson Morgan; five great-grandchildren, Megan, Nicholas, Ryder, Roman, and Baby Godwin. Our families have fond memories of Christmas at Kenneth and Bobbies home and the crazy family vacations. The lodge at Jefferson will always have an empty chair where Kenneth always sat but memories of holidays and birthdays with all the Morgan clan will fill our hearts. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Linden. Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Linden. There will be a time of visitation from 5 until 7 Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Donations can be made to The Salvation Army and The Wounded Warrior Foundation.
