Services for Harold Terry, 92, of Hughes Springs will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 29, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church in Hughes Springs with Rev. Larry Neely and Rev. Dan Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. Mr. Terry was born December 20, 1921 in Carterville, Texas and passed away September 26, 2014 in Hughes Springs. He was a Crane Operator at Lone Star Steel. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in WW II, had owned Tri-City Investments (Pawn Shop),a Cattle Rancher, a former Cass County Constable, a Mason and a Shriner. Mr. Terry is survived by his wife Peggy Terry; two sons Joe Harold Terry of Taunton, Massachusetts and Alan Dee Terry of Hughes Springs; two daughters and a son-in-law Suzanne Terry-Beck and Richard Beck of Texarkana, AR and DLorah Terry Carwile of Houston; seven grandchildren Douglas Terry, Robert Terry, Sharon Terry, Amy Green, Alan Terry, Jr.and wife Stacey, Alex Carwile and Dylan Carwile; and four great grandchildren Treston Green, Amaya Green, Brianna Terry, Ty Nathaniel Terry. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening at the funeral home in Hughes Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Burn Hospital, Calvary Baptist Church or to the Gideons.

  1. We will always count Harold a friend and neighbor. He helped many a person who may have been down on their luck throughout his life time. He faithfully served his country, his family, his church and his community. He will be missed.

  2. Mr. Terry was definitely one of a kind, and it has been a blessing to get to know him and his wife, Peggy and family. God will enjoy having him on board.

  9. Dear Peggy and family, please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss of Harold. He was a character and an important part of Hughes Springs. I remember painting a couple of signs for him years ago when we had just started. He trusted us to do a good job even though he didn't know us and I've never forgotten it. You are surrounded by those who love you.
