Maurine Buckland

maurine buckland
On September 12, 2014 Maurine Buckland, a most beautiful and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister died peacefully. She was born on April 23, 1929 to Homer and Bessie Grubbs in Linden. Shortly after graduating from Linden High School in 1946, she married her childhood sweetheart, and the love of her life, Waylon Buckland. They remained an inseparable and devoted couple up until the time of death. Maurine was a devout Christian and lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Linden. In addition to raising a family, she and her husband operated a successful title business in Linden for many years. She was a person who was able to experience joy from a variety of activities, and gave even more joy to those who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Waylon Buckland; two daughters, Carol Buckland and Donna Stewart and husband Dave; one son, Jimmie Buckland; grandchildren Jessica Middleton, Laura Stewart, Joel Stewart and his fiance Cara Hawryluk; great grandson, Kellen Middleton; one sister, Mary Beauchamp along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Homerzelle Hamilton; and brother, James Grubbs. All who had the privilege of having Maurine in their lives knew she was an exceedingly honest, selfless , gentle, kindhearted and compassionate person. She was truly a remarkable woman. Only our sense of gratitude for having known her eclipses our sorrow over having lost her. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 15, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Linden with Bro. Charles Russell officiating. Burial to follow at the Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Linden. There will be a time of visitation from 6 till 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

Guestbook

  1. I was so sorry to hear about Mrs. Buckland's passing. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed. Prayers for you at this time.

  2. I know there is nothing new in the way of comforting words I can share with you, but I want you to know I care and am truly sorry for your loss.

  3. My sympathies to Mrs. Bucklands family: Celebrate a life well lived, confident of Gods assurance that soon all sickness and death will be no more (Isaiah 25:8; 33:24). Isaiah 66:13 tells us As a mother comforts her son, So Almighty God will keep comforting you

  4. This very special lady, our friend Maurine and her husband lived right next door to us at Caddo Lake for many years. We will always remember her and the precious times we all had together. We got to see her around Christmas time last year and we are so grateful that we did. We will remember her forever!
