Funeral services for Johnnie Hopkins of Lone Star (Lake O' The Pines), will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 19, 2014 at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Ore City. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Johnnie Cleve Hopkins was born March 13, 1941 to the parentage of Lee Edward (Pete) Hopkins and Ruth B. Rushing Jordan in Morris County. He attended school at Victory in Marion County. He united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church at an early age. He also served in the Army in Vietnam. Mr. Hopkins is preceded in death by his mother Ruth Rushing, his father Lee Edward Hopkins, his stepmother, Ocie L Hopkins and brothers Maurice Hopkins and Henry Truggle. Johnnie will forever live in the hearts of his loving family, a loving wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Hopkins. To this union four children were born. Sons; Freddie (Rita) Simmons of Lone Star; Anthony (Poodie) Hopkins and (Fannie Mary) of Gilmer; daughters, Brenda (Charles) Perry of Talco and Sharon Jones of Lone Star. Four brothers; Brady Hopkins of Hughes Springs, Louis Hopkins of DeSota; Walter (Glenda) Hopkins of Hughes Springs; Jimmy (Sandra) Hopkins of Dallas. Three sisters; Gussie (Laurence) Stokes of Hughes Springs; Velma (Billy) Woods of Midlothian and Genneter Ellison of Hughes Springs. One uncle; Joe Zell (Sara) Rushing of Lone Star; one aunt, Thelma Rushing of Oakland, California. Two sister-in-laws, Netta Mae Harris of Lone Star and Kathan Buster of Hughes Springs. Two brother-in-laws; Raymond (Dora) Collier of Dallas, and Ray Collier of Lone Star. Eleven grandchildren and twenty-four great-grand children. A host of cousins and friends. Special fishing buddies, Pat and Jr., Mud Bone, Bird, Cecil, Ms. Jackson and Christopher Kemp. Two special Doctors Kayden Adams and Kyla Piper.
