Aretha White was born in Cason, Texas on October 3, 1928 to Tom and Clemmie White and passed away February 17, 2014. Aretha accepted Christ at Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from Rhoades High in Daingerfield, Texas. Aretha served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Aretha married Ellen Jean Stern and had four children. Mr. White worked at Lone Star Steel and retired after 30 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Clemmie White; his wife, Ellen Jean White; two sons, Billy White and Bobby White; and four brothers, Archie, James, Lloyd, and T.W. White. Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl White and Iris (Louis) White-Jennings; one brother, Melvin (Argie Nell) White; eight grandchildren, Monty White, Steve (Tenisia) White, Christopher Waters, Antonio Waters, Erica Jennings, Laytonia Lewis, Oslyn (Keith) Lewis, and Demetria Waters; 14 great-great grandchildren, Kyia and Desmon White, Madison and Dadrion White, Krystal and Dewonna Julian, Haley and Ryan Lewis, Joshua, Brianna, Ananias and Antonio Waters Jr., Eric Whetstone and Adunte Lewis. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Hughes Springs. Mr. White will lie in state from noon until 8 p.m. Friday with the family being present from 7 until 8.
