Funeral services for Carolyn Abernathy, 72, of Ore City, formerly of Hughes Springs will be 3:00 P.M. Monday, January 6, 2014 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs with Bros. Mark Markle and Ricky Vestal officiating. Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Abernathy was born August 5, 1941 in Hughes Springs and passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 in Tyler. She was preceded in death by her husband Gary Goober Abernathy; and two sons Gary Stevens Abernathy and Terry Goob Abernathy. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law JP and Marla Abernathy of Jefferson; two daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and Wes Bell of Diana and Penny and Jeff Haskins of Dallas; grandsons Michael Dicken and Christopher Hawkins both of Ore City, Kevin Hawkins of Hughes Springs, DJ Griffith of Ore City and Rayshod Green Haskins of Dallas; granddaughters Jaylie Abernathy of Jefferson, Rayvon Green Haskins of Dallas and Sadie Griffith of Dallas; a great granddaughter Ellie Dicken; a brother Jimmy Shipp of Gilmer; and many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

SO SAD TO HEAR OF CAROLYN'S DEATH ,WE WERE GOOD FRIENDS AND CLASS MATES..HAVEN'T SEEN HER IN A WHILE..GOD BLESS ALL HER FAMILY..
Sorry for your loss: May Carolyn Abernathy's family find solace in this time of sorrow, from Gods WordPsalm 103:8 tells us Almighty God is merciful and compassionate, and abundant in loyal love. And that they, who would really seek God, find in fact, he is not far off from each one of us. Acts 17:27. We can hold onto the hope that the injustice of death will end according to Gods promise 2 Peter 3:13, John 11:25.
