Graveside services for Carl Gene Powell, 64, of Cookville, will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Cornett Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, in Hughes Springs. Gene was born January 31, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant and passed away October 21, 2013 in Tyler. He is survived by three granddaughters, Kim Powell, Ashley Powell, and Carla Powell; one grandson, Michael Scott; and multiple nieces and nephews.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of Carl. He was my friend in high school in the Future Farmers, as well as a staunch supporter when I ran for student council. I will miss his sense of humor and friendship.
