Rodney Lee Whaley

Funeral services for Rodney Lee Whaley, 69, of Marietta, will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs. Burial will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. There will be a time of visitation from 6 until 8 Friday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Whaley was born April 7, 1944 in Eric, Oklahoma and passed away July 22, 2013 at his home. Mr. Whaley served in the Air Force and worked as an auto mechanic. He was the pastor of The Lords House of Prayer until his health failed. Rodney also loved to sing. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Sonya Ballinger; and one brother, Wayne Whaley. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Whaley, of Marietta; one son, Kurtis Whaley, of Weslaco, Texas; four daughters, Debra Henson and husband Mark, of Midlothian, Texas, Dianna Ballinger, of Irving, Texas, Dana Hatley and husband Wesley, of Norfolk, Virginia, and Samiel Wells and husband Shane, of Denton, Texas; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Benny Whaley and wife Margaret, of Edmond, Oklahoma; and one sister, Darlene Smith and husband Arthur, of Watuga, Texas.
