Bobby Gene Royal

November 2, 1941 ~ April 25, 2013
Bobby Gene Royal was born on November 2nd, 1941 in Hughes Springs, Texas. He was the second of eleven children born to Reed and Eula V (Turner) Royal. He grew up in Hughes Springs and graduated from Traylor High School in 1960. Because he was very dedicated to his family and his country, he served in the US Army and received an honorable discharge after doing a tour of duty in Germany. Upon his return to the states he returned to his home and found the love of his life. On November 28, 1969, he married Jana Epps and began a wonderful life full of exciting experiences. To this union, one son was born; Kelvin. Bobby has always been a hard working man. He started working in his teens under his fathers guidance where he received a notable mention from the City of Hughes Springs for his attention to detail and sound judgment. It is this strong work ethic that enabled him to be gainfully employed throughout his life. He was multi-talented and the master of multi-tasking. He had a great career and enjoyed his life to the fullest. His zest for life introduced him to his love of cars. Bobby was well respected amongst his family and friends. He was fun-loving and a dedicated family man. Bobby joined Love Chapel Baptist Church at an early age and he was taught about the love of Jesus at his mothers knee and through her loving examples. Proverbs 22:6 says Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Although our family is saddened by our loss, we are rejoicing as we know that our beloved Father, Brother, Brother-in Law, Uncle, Cousin and Friend; Bobby Gene Royal did not forget that wonderful training as a child and as such, we know that he is resting in the arms of the Lord. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents; Reed and Eula V, and one brother, Jerry. Bobby leaves to cherish his memories: his son; Kelvin, three sisters; Thelma and Vernell of Houston and Eula of Hughes Springs; six brothers; William Harold (Linda), Lonnie and Robert of Hughes Springs; John L. (Annette) of Longview, Gerry of Houston and Donnie (Gloria) of Vallejo, California; a half-sister, Irma Dean of Dallas; two granddaughters, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Because of his kind heart and love for people; he served as a parenting figure and one beautiful young lady, Sherri Fitzgerald and a wonderful young man, Michael Burnett, lovingly call him Daddy. He will truly be missed by all. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Hughes Springs High School football stadium. Burial will follow at Love Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, in Hughes Springs. Mr. Royal will lie in state all day Friday, May 3, 2013, with a time of visitation from 6 until 8 Friday evening at the funeral home.

To my cousin Bobby, I have fond memories when I was a little girl and you were in Los Angeles. Back then you seemed so tall and bigger than life. Then years later when I visited Texas and Lousiana with my mom Aunt Mildred and Uncle Marvin for a Cheetam family reunion. You will be missed by all, especially by my mom. I am sending prayers of comfort during this difficult time to your son your siblings and the Royals. Love, Diane and Jonathan

Rest in peace my Friend. We met in the early 80's at Lesco trucking. I was just learning to drive a truck and you were a Pro. I am grateful for having met you and to be your friend. I am so grateful we were able to re-connect in the last 5 or 6 years through our love of classic cars. I just wish my Dad could have still been here to reunite with us. You were a great man…one of a kind…always quick with a smile. I will miss you until we meet again. Love you.
