James L Briggs Sr

LINDEN James Lawrence Briggs, Sr., 69, of Naples, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in Longview. He was born June 14, 1943 in Brownsville, Texas. He was a shipping superintendent for Atlas Roofing, was a police officer with the Tyler Police Department and served in the Navy. Survivors include a son, James L Briggs, Jr. and wife, Ruth Ann, of Avinger; a daughter, Norma Faye Aguilar of Longview; four grandchildren, Autumn Briggs of Hughes Springs, Jamie Bravo , Olivia Rodriguez and Trista Garcia all of Longview; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Dell Briggs and his father, Oscar Briggs. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Saturday, April 20, 2013 in the chapel of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home in Linden. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
