John Edwin Leftwich

Funeral services for John Edwin Leftwich, 66, of Daingerfield, will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 3, 2012 at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc., of Hughes Springs. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the funeral home. Born November 19, 1945, John went home to be with his Lord Wednesday, August 29, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Brenda and two-grandchildren of the home; Juan Gonzalez and Erika Gonzalez; two sons - Kyle McAlister and wife Maria and their daughters, Martie and Lexi John, and Dustin (Dusty) Leftwich; a daughter Gerri Leftwich Taylor and her husband Kenith and their two children Shauna and Teddy Joe Taylor; daughter Theodora McAlister and husband Ray. John has two sisters: Sue Hobbs and Linda Hartsfield and husband Carmon; one uncle Pat Morgan and wife. John is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Ida Leftwich and several aunts and uncles. John served four years in the United States Marines and was a Vietnam Veteran. At the age of 21 he became a career truck driver visiting all 48 states and Canada. He stopped driving in 2005 at battle cancer and worked after recovery for Phillip Strickland driving from Texas to California. John was currently employed by Longview Asphalt at the East Plant in Longview, Texas. Safe in the arms of Jesus, John our beloved husband, father, brother and friend, we miss you.
