Graveside services for Jerry Hughes, 70, of Houma, LA, will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Hughes Springs Cemetery. Services in Houma were held 6:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2006 at Chauvin Funeral Home Chapel. Local arrangements are under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home, Inc. Mr. Hughes died Saturday, September 30, 2006 in Houma, Louisiana. He was born March 13, 1936 in Hughes Springs. He was a retired wireline operator and a U.S. Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his father, Howell Preston Hughes. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Cole Hughes of Houma; mother, Annie Foster Hughes of Hughes Springs; son Jay Hughes of The Woodlands, TX, MS; daughters, Kym Hughes of Dallas, Lauralyn Hughes Welch of Mt. Pleasant, GA; sister, Harriette Hughes O’Dell of Keennedale, TX; and two grandchildren.
