He is survived by his wife Marcene Arceneaux of Lone Star; daughters Kari Byrd and her husband Jeremy and Kristie Arceneaux of Grapeland; mother of his daughters Mary Brown of Grapeland; he was “Big John” to granddaughters Emily and Kalee Walker and Brittni Byrd of Grapeland; also step grandchildren Maverick, Jed, Emily, and Kendall Elwell of Ore City and Isabelle Julian of Columbia, Missouri; step sons Chad Elwell and Kevin Elwell of Ore City and Marty Julian of Columbia, Missouri; sisters-in-law Nell Matthews of Longview, Joyce Andrews and Mayvonne Case of Ore City; brothers-in-law Glen Reynolds of Pittsburg, David Reynolds and Joe Reynolds of Ore City; special cousin Tommy Young of Longview and lifelong friend Charles Skinner of Longview and many extended family members and friends.
