William “Willie” Eldor Cope, 71, of Hughes Springs, passed away Wednesday May 10, 2017 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City, LA.  Willie was born January 21, 1946 to William “Bill” Cope and Katherine Cope.

Willie was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Veal Switch Baptist Church and owned Cope Construction and Willie’s Mini Storage. He loved operating equipment, having fish frys with family, and coffee with friends at Hill’s Grocery.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  Survivors include special companion, Fran Snider of Linden, TX; sister, Nancy Betty of Mt. Pleasant, TX; brother, Melvin Cope of Hughes Springs, TX; daughter, Tammy Wright and her husband, William Wright of Lyman, SC; grandson, Elijah Wright; granddaughter, Alyssa Wright; and several nieces and nephews.  Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Veal Switch Cemetery, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.  There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 351, P.O. Box 671, Hughes Springs, Texas 75656.

  1. Im so sorry to hear of Willies passing. I have know Willie for many yeas when I was in High School in Hughes Springs. I lost touch of Willie after I graduated and moved on. Wille was a great Guy., may he rest in peace .Prayers go out to all the family. May God Bless You.
