Leoda Madge Newsom

September 14, 1923 ~ January 18, 2018
Mrs. Newsom was welcomed home by her Savior on January 18, 2018. We have a great sense of joy knowing Leoda is in the presence of the Lord whom she served faithfully for so many years. Mrs. Newsom was born September 14, 1923 in Clarksville, TX to Alfred and Anna Whitt.
The beloved matriarch of her family, Leoda quietly lead by example, loving unconditionally, speaking truth and kindness to those who sought her advice, and modeling true grace. She met life's obstacles with humble determination and faith in God, inspiring those who knew her. Even in later days when few things interested her, you would still find her with her bible open to a favorite passage.
Mrs. Newsom was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie (Jack) Newsom; her parents; three sisters; and a multitude of friends.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Newsom of Henderson, NV, Joe Newsom and wife Denise of Daingerfield, TX, Johnny Newsom of Baytown, TX; daughter, Janelle Hudgins and husband Danny of Granbury, TX; she was a loved Granny to 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
I am so very sorry for the loss of your mother, grandmother and great mother. I’ve heard what a wonderful lady she was, and having such a sweet family, I know it was true. I never met her, but I felt like I did, and I feel like I missed out not knowing her. She will be missed by everyone around her. My prayers are with the Newsom family as you say good by until you see her again. May God bless you all.
So sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother. She was always so friendly and never spoke an unkind word to no-one that we heard. She was definitely a lady that all of you could be proud to call a mom and a granny and we are proud to call a friend. Our prayers are with you.

I have known Mrs. Leoda since Janelle and I were young girls having slumber parties in each other’s homes. It doesn’t seem that long ago. This precious lady always had a sweet smile, quick wit and such a happy disposition. God blessed her with a lot of years here, very much loved by her family and friends and now she has her great reward! Prayers for her family, for my dear friend Janelle. I pray you feel the comfort and peace of God.
I will always think of her with love and affection. A Beautiful woman inside an out! Love her so much, she will be greatly missed. I pray the Lord brings all her family& those who knew and love her comfort during this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss, I remember your Mom, when I was a young child, as being sweet and so very kind. I remember my sister, Tonia, and I coming to your house, across from Halls grocery store, and playing with Janelle. Sending loving thoughts and prayers for all of you, even though it has been years…I still remember you all. I am living now across from Midway Baptist Church.
