Rama Ollie Yeager

February 18, 1920 ~ September 22, 2018
Our beloved mother was called home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2018. She was 98 years old.
Rama was born February 18, 1920, to Arthur and Bera Mae Vaughn in Daingerfield, Texas. She married Robert DV Yeager June 29, 1940, and they were married 68 years until DV’s death in 2008. Spending many years in LaMarque, TX raising 3 sons, she was very involved with Boy Scouts and loved doing all manner of arts/crafts. She and DV built their retirement lake home in Daingerfield in 1973.
Rama’s life was primarily driven by love of family. Their home was always open and the gathering place for friends and family. Rama was a fabulous cook, her freezer and pantry were always stocked, and the first thing she said when you walked in her house was, “are you hungry”. Also an avid fan of crocheting, she belonged to a group of ladies who met every month for what was known as “Knit-n-Spit” day. She loved all kinds of game including dominos “42”and Yahtzee. In later years her favorite was a dice game called ‘Farkle’ and she was good at winning!
She was preceded in death by her husband, DV Yeager, great grandson Mickey Jo Yeager, 4 sisters and 5 brothers.
Rama is survived by 3 sons: Robert and daughter-in-law Peggy of Tyler, TX, Don and daughter-in-law Karen of Dyersburg, TN, Danny and daughter-in-law Tanya of Fence Lake, NM; and 1 brother Harold Vaughn of Hughes Springs, TX;
6 grandsons: Jon Yeager- Longview, TX, Mike Yeager- Murrell’s Inlet, SC, Stephen Yeager- Nolensville, TN, Craig Yeager- Mt. Pleasant, TX, Adam Yeager and Mark Yeager– Dyersburg, TN; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Burial will follow at Clark Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service.
Keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers. Wishing you Peace as you remember and mourn your loss, know that you are being thought of with warmth and sympathy.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I have many fond memories staying there in the summer. Love to all, Lani, Eleanore and family
I am sorry about Rama, I trimmed her nails sometimes at Windsor, she never wanted them painted . She was a very sweet lady and will be missed. Love to the Family. Betty Miller
I have many wonderful memories of my family’s time spent with the Yeagers in La Marque and later when my parents, Steve and Doris, became their neighbors on Lone Star Lake. I spent many hours during my teenage years in Rama’s kitchen. In fact, that is where I met my wife, Barbara Jean Waldon. Like my brother, Ted, I felt like Rama was a second mom. She and DV were very special people,
I first came to know Rama through Cub Scouts where I met and became friends with her son Danny. I spent many days with the family at their home in LaMarque. Rama introduced me to fresh vegetables from their garden, and for a city kid eating mostly canned food, they tasted a little strange. I have many found memories of trips to the Dangerfield area visiting the farm and the lake. Our families took a lot of camping trips together. Rama was like a second mother and I felt like I had a second family, sometimes being mistaken for a relative at the reunions at Lone Star lake. Although through the years we drifted apart I am truly saddened by her passing and my heartfelt love and prayers are with all of the family. I regret that I will not be able to attend the services.
Growing up I often thought of Rama as an aunt instead of a cousin. She was fun to be around and always had advice to give. She came to see me a few days before Steve and I got married to be sure I knew everything I needed to know before I became a bride and wife. Mother and I loved visiting with her and shared so many happy times at the lake and in La Marque. Visiting with Rama in La Marque was how Don and Carol introduced me to Steve. I know Doris & Steve and Mom & Dad were there with DV at the Pearly Gates to welcome her home. She is enjoying a great reunion with her loved ones now. She will be missed. Our love and prayers go out to all the family.
There are no words that seem adequate to describe losing someone as special as Aunt Rama. When I look back at all the Summers off my life, she is always there or close by. I will miss her deeply, and will keep everyone in my prayers.
Robert and Peggy and family, So sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you today as you celebrate your mother’s long and full life.
Very sorry for your loss. I can tell from the obituary that she was a wonderful lady. Take care!
My prayers are with your family. As a little girl I remember going on fishing trips with my parents (Bill &Margie Cates) , Aunt Marie Vaughn and Rama & DV. She always had a smile and funny story. She will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with y’all. Love y’all Debbie Vaughn
Dear Rama, it was an honor to have you in my life, and try my best to give you the best care I could up at Windsor. I will never forget the 1st time I met you in the early months of 2017, and although the time was short your beautiful soul had an impact on my heart, and gave me even more reason to pursue a step up in my care giving skills. In your last days, it was hard for me, but I always managed to be there for you as you gave me strength for the trials amongst us. I know now that you are happy, and that is peace in my heart. I love you Mrs. Yeager, carry on in Grace.
I loved that woman like my own family! For four years, every morning when I got to work the first place I would go is to her room and get a great big hug and hers were the best! My condolences to the family. She will be missed dearly.
